We are so happy to post the song teasers from Trunk Call, the upcoming Blogswara album! Trunk Call is the first of it’s kind in the history of Blogswara as the album has a central theme of bi-lingual songs which brings in the flavors of different languages and music genres into each song.

Contrary to the previous albums of Blogswara (earlier, Blogswara let itself to be the platform for ready-to-publish songs so people could send in what they had ready at hand), we had asked the song teams to work on a central theme that required each song to have a minimum of two languages. The theme stands close to the very basic principle of Blogswara, which is to unite people from different places using music as the medium to communicate. Even though we had received 19 song teams announcing their participation, only 6 song teams had submitted the songs out of which only 4 could make it to the final list. So we thank all the 4 song teams who took an extra effort to create new songs based on the given theme.

So here it comes, the song teasers from the upcoming album. Listen, share and show some love! The new album will go live online (need I say that the entire album is free to listen and download?) on January 1st, 2012. So stay tuned for the full versions!

Blogswara is happy to announce that Shyam, Praveen and Prasanna of TSJ Studio has made their debut in Tamil film industry with composing songs for the film “Kamban Kazhagam”. Please do listen and let them know your comments. This trio of wonderful musicians have worked with Blogswara in our 3rd edition. You can listen to their song “Azhage” which was originally published in Blogswara version 3 here.

Hello all, we are glad to announce that the first level of song evaluation has been completed and the comments from reviewers have been sent to the respective song teams.

Also the new dates for the upcoming deadlines are as followed (please go here for details of the deadlines – http://blogswara.in/bls/process/) :

Deadline #5 – October 30, 2011
Deadline #6 – November 10, 2011
Deadline #7 – November 20, 2011
Deadline #8 – November 30, 2011

Though we had received 19 entry announcements, only five could make it to the required date. We guess that this is because the new theme requires some hard work and time and that is what resulted in the lesser number. However, we cannot hold back our excitement about these five songs because they sound awesome! But the decision aboout how many of these would make it to the album rests with the judges. We will soon complete the evaluation process and post an update here.

Those of you who couldn’t submit songs this time because of the special rules for this album, do not be disappointed. Blogswara has more versions to come!

As per some of the requests came in from song teams, the dates for Deadline #2 (as is explained in the Blogswara process page) has been extended to September 20, 2011.

3. Submit your completed song for review selection, to the panel by DEADLINE #2
Points to note in this regard:

3.1. The completed song must be sent to theband@blogswara.in.

3.2. Remember to include a declaration that the song/material you are submitting is your own original work and that it has not been copied, either fully or in part, from the existing work of any other artist. Submissions made without this declaration will be summarily rejected.

3.3. Ensure that each of the following areas in your song has met the degree of completeness indicated here:

3.3.1. Main melody: Must be complete and final.

3.3.2. Lyrics: Must be complete and final.

3.3.3. Vocals: Must be complete; need not be final.

3.3.4. Orchestration: Must be complete; need not be final.

3.4. Note that your song will be evaluated by considering the following points:

3.4.1. Main melody: Freshness

3.4.2. Orchestration: Freshness in arrangement

3.4.3. Orchestration: Supportiveness to the main melody

3.4.4. Vocals: Clarity of note definition

3.4.5. Vocals: Strength and tonal quality

3.4.6. Vocals: Expressiveness

3.4.7. Vocals: Recording quality

3.4.8. Mixing: Timing-related accuracy

3.4.9. Mixing: Balance (in terms of sound levels) between the vocal tracks and the orchestration, and between the different vocal tracks themselves if more than one vocal track is used

NOTE: Although Lyrics will not be a category for evaluation or scoring, kindly note that it is a qualifying criterion; that is, if your lyrics are objectionable on any count, your song might face rejection. Depending on the extent of objection and the merit behind each case, you might be given the option to change the lyrics, or specific parts of it.

3.5. Provide artist details and the lyrics (as a Word document) along with the submission.
